Event Capacity and Vaccine Boosters

Dear Campus Community:

We are so encouraged by our campus community’s commitment to safety and adherence to our COVID-19 protocols. We thank everyone for their diligence in both obtaining vaccines and reporting vaccination status, and we’d like to provide a few updates.

Event Capacity Increase

We are pleased to report that vaccination rates on campus have steadily increased, and our campus positivity rate (14-day average) has been steady and remains below 1.5 percent. In addition, Orange County has dropped from close to 20 percent positivity last month to just under 10 percent positivity.

Because of this, effective today, we are raising maximum capacities in larger campus spaces to up to 50 percent capacity, not to exceed 150 occupants in a space, and while continuing to maintain 3-foot social distancing and masking. For athletic competitions and artistic performances, the 150 capacity refers to fans and audience members in attendance.

Booster Information

Also effective today, the Wellness Center will begin providing Pfizer COVID-19 boosters for faculty, staff, and students 65 or older. Pfizer boosters are also available at this time for those aged 50-64 with underlying health risks; we will offer boosters to additional age groups in the coming weeks based on availability of the Pfizer vaccine. For other community members who qualify to receive the booster as educators and wish to receive the additional vaccination now, you are encouraged to obtain your booster from an off-campus provider (Publix, Walgreens, Walmart, Winn-Dixie).

The additional dose should be administered at least six months after the previous (second) Pfizer dose.

At this time, more information from the CDC and FDA regarding Moderna is pending. Once information is available, we plan to offer Moderna boosters.

Thank you, again, for your continued commitment to helping keep Rollins safe.
